Meet the Technical Committee
The ACU Technical Committee has been restructured to better support a fair, collaborative, and progressive Cheer & Dance industry.

Under this updated framework, the Technical Committee operates as a central point for stakeholder engagement, consultation, and coordination — not as an expert rule-making body or independent decision-maker.
Its role is to ensure that the lived experience and expertise of the Cheer & Dance community meaningfully informs ACU’s governance and decision-making processes.

The Committee aims to actively engage with judges, coaches, gym owners, athletes, event providers, and member organisations to gather, document, and synthesise feedback across all areas of technical development, including scorecards, rubrics, divisions, team sizes, skill selection, event standards, and related policies.

Rather than creating rules in isolation, the Technical Committee:
-
Aggregates and organises community feedback
-
Identifies shared priorities and areas of divergence
-
Assesses alignment with ACU’s Guiding Principles and strategic direction
-
Prepares structured recommendations and submissions
-
Escalates matters to the ACU Board for discussion, decision-making, and implementation

The Committee serves as a bridge between the community and governance, ensuring that change within the sport is community-driven, transparent, and strategically aligned.

The Technical Committee meets several times each year and is chaired by a National Board member, who oversees consultation processes, maintains procedural integrity, and supports clear communication between stakeholders, the Committee, and the ACU Board.

At the heart of this restructure is a simple philosophy:
The experts are our stakeholders.
