Try Out Procedure

Process

  1. ​Attend or watch the virtual information session

  2. Create tryout video
    - Format: Unlisted youtube video preferred, other file sharing apps also accepted

  3. Submit your Cheer resume

  4. Submit application online and pay the tryout fee

Try Out Video Requirements

Maximum 4 minutes duration, comprising of:

  • Introduction
    - Name, Club, City/state, Recent divisions and level & 'Why Team Australia?'

  • Required Sequence

  • Individual stunt/tumble/basket skills

  • Chant - Chant Guide HERE

Preferred Tryout Method

We would prefer that athletes apply for this team in stunt groups where possible. However, we will give full consideration to individual applicant applications

Other Requirements

  1. Reference details from your current cheer coach & club

  2. Ability to attend all camps and events

  3. Ability to participate fully in all team camps and events

Video Requirements 

Sequence

  1. To be one continous uneditted video

  2. All skills to be on a 1 or 5 with a maximum of an 8 to 12 count transition between

  3. If unable to perform prescribe skills then an easier is permitted, may impact selection. For example prep level instead of extension, lib instead of body line, tumble to a tuck instead of a layout or full twist etc.

  4. Non-tumblers to stand to the side during tumbles

  5. If trying out as an individual, perform as much of the sequence as possible

Individual Skills

  • Performed in succession or individually

  • Skills performed in the sequence are not required to be shown individually

  • Body Positions to be show on both legs

  • If unable to perform prescribe skills then similar non-level appropriate skill are permitted.

Other

  • Intro to include Name, Club, Current & previous relevant levels / teams and Why Team Australia?

  • Chant to be performed with Improvised props, Poms, Sign or Megaphone as a group or individually
