Over the past three days, two directors of the ACU have been representing the interests of Australia in attendance at the ICU International Federation meetings, including attending as a full voting member at the ICU General Assembly.

These meetings play a vital role in shaping the future of our sport both internationally and back home. They provide an opportunity to collaborate with other countries and explore how we can create more opportunities for athletes at every level through sporting structures and governing best practice. They also allow us to stay closely aligned with global developments (including progress towards potential Olympic recognition and entry to Brisbane 2032) and ensure that our country continues to play an active and influential role on the world stage.

To this point, this year our Director Danelle Cooney was part of a global panel presenting on Disabled Sport Division programs and best practices to other nations. In addition, we were also honoured to have our President Edward Miles nominated for an ICU Governing Council position. Whilst Edward was unsuccessful in the voting process, we are proud of the steps we have made so that our Australian representatives are globally recognised as leaders in our sport.

As always, we are committed to bringing insights back home to strengthen our sport, enhance athlete experiences, and support the continued growth of cheerleading across Australia, and we are looking forward to the World Championship results over the upcoming days.
